Surface technology

In the "Magazine for Surface Technology", this term is defined as follows:
"The force acting at the interface of liquids, which tries to pull the molecules from the surface into the liquid interior.
In this process, the liquid forms as small a surface as possible, and if no external forces (gravity) act, the result is a spherical shape. The cause of this surface tension is the mutual attraction of the liquid molecules. Inside the phase, these forces compensate for each other; at the interface, there is a resultant inward force.
The high surface tension of water often has a disturbing effect in electroplating and can be reduced by adding wetting agents."
