Faraday's laws

Law/relationship between the flow of current during electrolysis and the quantities of substances deposited at the electrodes. The name originates from Michael Faraday, who is also responsible for other discoveries and names, e.g. the terms "electrolyte" and "electrolysis".

1st law:

The amount of substance m separated electrolytically is proportional to the amount of electricity flowed:
m = K - I - t, where "I" is the current intensity, "t" is the time, and "K" is the electrochemical element corresponding to the amount of substance deposited by the amount of electricity 1 Faraday.

2nd Law:

The masses of different substances deposited by equal amounts of electricity relate to each other as the chemical equivalents of the substances:
m1 : m2 = (M1/n1) : (M2/n2), where "m1" and "m2" are the deposited amounts of substances 1 and 2; "M1" and "M2" are the atomic and molecular weights of substances 1 and 2, respectively; and "n1" and "n2" are the electrochemical valence of their ions.
