COPPER

Copper has experienced a veritable renaissance in surface finishing in recent years. It is regarded as a new trend color and increasingly forms a decorative finish. Copper surfaces can be found in consumer goods, fittings, lighting and shop fittings, as well as in the furniture and sanitary industry. To prevent copper from tarnishing when it comes into contact with atmospheric oxygen, it must be varnished or similarly treated.

Years ago, copper was very popular for the pretreatment of aluminium, but recently it has been increasingly replaced by duplex nickel coatings in order to achieve better corrosion properties. Nowadays, copper is mainly used in coating systems to achieve certain properties with regard to corrosion protection, gloss formation and levelling.

Pre-copper plating is essential for zinc die-casting in order to be able to finish the material with other surfaces such as nickel, chrome, etc.
